COURSE OVERVIEW
Water movement is one of the most influential factors in your dive experience, and understanding it is essential for safe and enjoyable diving. In the SSI Waves, Tides, and Currents specialty program, you will learn how to recognize, predict, and adapt to a variety of dynamic water conditions such as waves, tidal changes, and strong currents.
This program will teach you how these natural forces affect dive planning and execution. You’ll gain practical skills in handling surf entries and exits, and you’ll learn how to plan and conduct drift dives effectively. The course also focuses on improving your situational awareness and buddy communication while diving in moving water.
By mastering these techniques, you’ll be able to dive confidently in a wider range of environments, including coastal areas, channels, and exposed reefs. Upon completion, you will earn the SSI Waves, Tides, and Currents specialty certification, expanding your diving knowledge and enabling you to safely explore more challenging dive sites around the world.
