COURSE OVERVIEW

At Aotearoa Dive, we believe the wonders of the underwater world should be accessible to everyone. Our SSI Try Classified Diving program offers a safe, welcoming introduction to scuba diving for individuals with limited mobility or sensory impairments who have been medically cleared to dive.

Your journey begins with a personal consultation with your certified Classified Diving Instructor, where we take the time to understand your individual needs, goals, and any specific support requirements. From there, you’ll be introduced to your dive equipment and guided through foundational scuba skills in a warm, calm, and controlled pool environment - typically held at the Rotorua Aquatic Centre.

With the dedicated support of your instructor and our classified diving support team, you’ll experience the incredible feeling of weightlessness and the joy of breathing underwater - at your own pace, and in complete comfort. For those who wish to continue, this program can also be a stepping stone to exploring open water in future sessions.

Our entire team is professionally trained to assist with a wide range of physical and sensory conditions. We also provide a selection of specialist equipment to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience, including harness lifts, wet-room wheelchairs, propulsion gloves, underwater scooters (DPVs), and other adaptive dive gear.

Upon completion, you’ll receive a recognition certificate and digital e-card - but more importantly, you’ll come away with a sense of achievement, increased confidence, and the foundational skills to continue your scuba diving journey.

The underwater world is truly for everyone - and it all starts here.
