SSI SCR DIVER
Step into the exciting world of rebreather diving with the SSI SCR Diver course.
Designed for divers ready to explore the future of underwater adventure, this program teaches you how to perform no-decompression dives using the Mares Horizon semi-closed rebreather (SCR). Experience quieter, longer, and more streamlined dives with the SSI SCR Diver certification - the next step in your diving evolution.

COURSE OVERVIEW
Unlock the future of recreational diving with the SSI SCR Diver certification. This certification allows you to dive to depths of up to 30 meters with an equally or more qualified buddy, using the same semi-closed rebreather (SCR) equipment configuration and procedures learned during training — all without the need for decompression stops.
Aotearoa Dive’s SSI SCR Diver training program is the ideal pathway to expand your diving skills and embrace the advanced world of rebreather technology. Designed specifically for the Mares Horizon SCR, this course combines engaging online study with classroom sessions to give you a solid understanding of the Horizon system, SCR technology, and dive theory.
You’ll gain hands-on experience in assembling the unit, conducting pre-dive checks, planning SCR dives, and managing potential failures. In confined water training, you’ll work closely with your SCR Instructor to master essential skills and gain confidence on the unit.
To complete your certification, you’ll execute a series of open water dives with your instructor, applying what you’ve learned and experiencing the silent, bubble-reduced world of SCR diving — down to a maximum depth of 30 meters.
