SSI MANTA AND RAY ECOLOGY

Diving with mantas, meeting curious stingrays or being surrounded by Mobula rays is an experience divers dream of! It is an opportunity not to be missed.

In the SSI Manta and Ray  Ecology specialty program, you will learn how to recognise different ray species and interact with them safely. Join the SSI Manta and Ray Ecology specialty program and dive into the fascinating world of rays, one of the ocean’s most graceful and mysterious creatures.

COURSE OVERVIEW

In this course, you will learn how to safely and respectfully dive with manta rays and other ray species, gaining the skills to identify different types based on their physical features, behaviors, and habitats.

You’ll explore the vital ecological roles that rays play in maintaining the health of marine ecosystems, from controlling populations of bottom-dwelling organisms to nutrient cycling in the ocean. Through engaging academic sessions and optional in-water training, you will develop a deeper understanding of the threats rays face, including overfishing, habitat loss, and climate change.

This program empowers divers to become informed ocean advocates, equipped with the knowledge to help protect and conserve ray populations worldwide. Whether you’re a seasoned diver or just beginning your underwater journey, this specialty adds a meaningful new dimension to your diving experience.
