Freshwater habitats range from glaciers in the mountains, down to lowland rivers and streams that flow into estuaries. They include lakes, rivers, streams, some wetlands, cave systems, geothermal areas and underground aquifers.
The SSI Fresh Water Ecology program provides all that you need to identify diverse and unique range of freshwater species, habitats, and ecosystems.

COURSE OVERVIEW
Freshwater environments are rich in life and essential to ecosystems around the world. The SSI Freshwater Ecology specialty introduces you to the unique habitats, species, and environmental processes found in lakes, rivers, springs, and wetlands.
Throughout the SSI Fresh Water Ecology program, you’ll explore how freshwater ecosystems function, learn to identify key plants and animals, and understand the challenges they face, including pollution, climate change, and habitat destruction.
