COURSE OVERVIEW

The SSI Extended Range Foundations program is a focused, workshop-style course designed to refine the core skills every diver needs before progressing into technical diving. Conducted entirely in confined water at depths of less than 12 metres, it provides intensive, hands-on training with Extended Range Total Diving Systems, including single tank, twinset, or sidemount configurations. Across a series of in-water sessions, divers work on mastering buoyancy control, achieving perfect trim, developing efficient propulsion techniques, and honing team communication. Practical drills such as gas management, valve shutdowns, and SMB deployment are introduced to build precision, control, and confidence.

Suitable for certified divers with a minimum of 24 logged dives, the program is ideal for those preparing for SSI XR Nitrox, Extended Range, or other technical certifications, as well as for experienced recreational divers looking to sharpen their abilities. With an emphasis on repetition, feedback, and skill mastery, the SSI XR Foundations course offers a significant performance boost in a supportive learning environment, ensuring divers leave with better control, stronger situational awareness, and the confidence to take the next step in their diving journey.
