These are life-saving skills that can make a real difference when it counts. Many divers consider this their most empowering and transformative course — a true milestone in their diving journey.

COURSE OVERVIEW
The SSI Diver Stress and Rescue program is designed to build your confidence and competence as a diver by teaching you how to prevent, recognize, and manage dive emergencies. It is one of the most rewarding programs you can complete, providing the skills needed to help both yourself and others in stressful or emergency situations. Many divers consider it the most valuable course in their training journey.
During the SSI Diver Stress and Rescue program you will complete academic online study, confined water training, and open water rescue scenarios. You’ll start with self-paced digital learning to understand the theory behind diver stress, emergency procedures, and rescue techniques. In the pool, you’ll practise key rescue skills in a controlled environment, and then apply what you’ve learned during open water dives, managing realistic accident simulations.
Key skills include recognizing and responding to diver stress, emergency management and equipment use, and performing rescues for both panicked and unresponsive divers. You’ll also learn how to manage dive accident situations, assist tired or injured divers, and build strong situational awareness. The course not only prepares you for emergencies—it transforms you into a more confident, capable, and supportive dive buddy.
